Real Time Passenger Information

What To Expect?

JJ Kavanagh & Sons customers will be able to have that extra lie-in bed or grab that coffee, with the help of our RTPI system. Customers can check the actual arrival time of their bus at 100 bus stops and shelters on the JJ Kavanagh & Sons network. It will be designed to quickly and easily show you when your bus is due to arrive at your bus stop so you can plan your journey more accurately, helping you to make smarter travel decisions.

The RTPI system can also be used to make online ticketing purchases for all of our discounted fares.

How Does RTPI Work?

Our fleet of coaches across our Three Main Routes (736 Waterford – Dublin Airport), (717 Clonmel – Dublin Airport), (735 Shannon – Dublin Airport) and Daily College Routes (Naas – Carlow IT), (Athy – Maynooth), (Kilkenny – Maynooth) and (Portlaoise – Maynooth) will be using Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) to track movement in real-time. This AVL data is fed back into the central RTPI server, and subsequently pushed out to display panels to JJ Kavanagh & Sons customers via API (applications programming interface) who can also retrieve timetable information by date, and the real-time route of a vehicle.

1. Search by Bus Route

Finally, you can select the ‘map’ button to search for a bus stop by using our interactive map. In order to locate a bus stop, zoom down to the smallest level where all bus stops are displayed. In order to move to a different area either pan around the map or zoom back out, and then zoom back in to display the bus stops. This nice feature means you can see your bus moving in real time!

You can also get our weekly teaser updates on our Facebook,  and Twitter pages @JJKavanaghBuses. If you any questions on our RTPI please call our customer service line on (0818 333 222), lines open from 07:00 – 19:00hrs (7 days a week).
