At J.J. Kavanagh & Sons, we are constantly striving to improve your bus travel experience. We have listened to your feedback and are excited to announce some important changes to our ticketing system, effective this coming Monday, September 18th, 2023.
Why are we making these changes?
Our goal is to provide a safe and comfortable journey for all passengers. The paper return/weekly tickets have been phased out so that every person with a pre-booked digital ticket will be guaranteed their seat when they board.
What’s Changing?
Starting from Monday, September 18th 2023, weekly or return tickets will no longer be available for purchase from our drivers.
You will, of course, be able to purchase a SINGLE ticket for a one-way journey from our drivers with cash or using a debit card with our tap and facility.
A digital ticket must be purchased by passengers wanting to purchase a weekly or return ticket. This allows you to pre-book your return journey, ensuring you get the seat you pre-booked.
How Do Digital Tickets Work?
Our digital tickets use a “QR code” and are safe, convenient and flexible and can be purchased with a debit / credit card in two ways – via our mobile phone app or via the jjkavanagh.ie website.
Benefits of using the JJ’s Mobile App
- The app also allows you to make changes to your ticket up to 2 hours before your bus’s departure time. To make changes to the time or date of your departure just open the app and make your changes.
- When boarding your bus simply show the bus driver the ticket via the app
- The app comes with a live bus tracker so you can monitor your bus’s arrival in real-time!
Using the JJKavanagh.ie Website
Alternatively the same convenience and functionality is available on our website jjkavanagh.ie which can be accessed via a browser with your phone, tablet or desktop. The digital ticket is emailed to you and when you board the bus you show the bus driver the email containing the digital ticket.
If you prefer you can print out the digital ticket and show the driver the printout.
