1. Kilkenny Cat Laughs Comedy Festival (2nd- 6th June)

Kilkenny Cats Laugh Comedy Festival 2016 Established in 1995, the Cat Laughs Comedy Festival, referred to in the international comedy world simply and affectionately as Kilkenny, has in the past hosted such international comedy luminaries as Bill Murray, Zach Galafianakis, Louis CK, Peter Kay, Ross Noble, Bill Bailey, Jo Brand and Laura Kightlinger and helped launch the international careers of Irish comedians such as Dylan Moran, Dara Ó Briain, Graham Norton and many others.

The Cat Laughs has no competition, no awards and no industry so it has become a much-loved busman’s holiday for comedians the world over who have great affection for the friendly, relaxed vibe and the intimacy of the shows which are programmed to make for a diverse and intriguing experiences for comedy fans.

2. Bloom Fringe Festival (3rd-5th June)

Bloom Fringe is the younger, edgier version of the famous Bloom in the Phoenix Park. Cultivating creativity and community in the heart of Dublin city, Bloom Fringe encourages people of all ages to get involved in this year’s vibrant programme of events which includes talks, trails, secret Dublin tours, workshops, street art installations and foodie pop-up moments.

Bringing the grace of greening to the areas in Dublin city that need it the most, this not-for-profit upstart, armed with a platoon of creative, driven and environmentally-minded volunteers, is on a mission to bring garden art installations to Dublin’s neglected alleyways, reintroduce nature and biodiversity into urban and civic spaces, while putting the spotlight on vibrant garden communities.

3. Carlow Arts Festival (10th-19th June)

Carlow Arts Festival (Éigse) champions arts and culture across one of Ireland’s least known and most beautiful counties and offers a vibrant and dynamic programme of visual art, street carnival, literature and performance over 10 days.

The festival makes use of almost every significant arts venue and tourist attraction in the county, in particular Carlow Town, the River Barrow, VISUAL Centre for Contemporary Art, Borris House and village, and unusual barge-based arts activities on the riverbanks at Tinnahinch, Goresbridge, Bagenalstown and Leighlinbridge.

 

4. Taste of Dublin (16th – 19th June)

Dublin is a great city for a cup of coffee. Increasingly heaving with cafés who take their roasts seriously, know their latte art, and take huge pride in the coffee that they serve, coffee culture in on the rise.

It is fitting then that the city is hosting the 16th World Barista Championship. Ireland has also sent competitors to the championships over the years who have gone on to be huge movers and shakers in the coffee world. Examples include Colin Harmon, founder of 3fe, who first got Dubliners talking about coffee in a new and interesting way.

World of Coffee will be full of various events, competitions, and entertainment especially for people who love their java. It will be an extensive and experiential showcase of coffee culture in all of its lively glory.
