Please note that while we strive to maintain uninterrupted bus services as advertised sometimes delays or disruptions can occur, caused by factors beyond our control, including bus breakdowns, supply interruptions from external sources, or adverse traffic conditions.

In adverse weather conditions such as snow, fog, or exceptionally challenging road conditions, or if certain roads or sections are closed, we may need to adjust schedules or temporarily suspend services without notice.

Weekly Bus Tickets

1. What is a Weekly Ticket?

A weekly ticket allows a passenger 5 outward and 5 return journeys between the specified destinations within a 7 day period.

2. Can my weekly ticket be valid from Thursday to Thursday?

Yes. JJ Kavanagh policy states that weekly tickets are valid for a 7 day period from the day of purchase.

3. Can I use my weekly ticket from a number of stops?

No. Weekly tickets can only be used on one route and between two specific stops. For example, a weekly ticket between Dublin and Kilcullen can not be used to travel from Naas to Dublin.

4. Can I make 6 outward journeys and 4 return journeys?

No. Weekly tickets are valid only for a maximum of 5 journeys in both directions.

5. Where can I purchase a weekly ticket?

Weekly tickets are not available to purchase directly from driver. Weekly tickets must be purchased as a digital ticket from jjkavanagh.ie or via our mobile app up to 15 minutes before route departure time. Digital weekly ticket times (not dates) can be changed up to 2 hours before the scheduled route departure time.

6. What is the price of a weekly ticket?

Weekly ticket prices vary depending on the destinations.

JJ Kavanagh & Sons coaches and bus services provide priority boarding for all passengers with pre-booked digital tickets. Passengers with pre-booked tickets are given priority to board the bus first, to ensure they get their seats.

To pre-book your digital ticket go to jjkavanagh.ie or use our mobile app to purchase up to 15 minutes before route departure time. A pre-booking means you are guaranteed your seat on the selected journey that you have purchased. Please arrive at least 10 minutes prior to departure to avail of priority boarding.

  • 717 Clonmel – Dublin City/Dublin Airport
  • 735 Limerick to Dublin City/Dublin Airport
  • 736a Naas – Carlow

  • NUM06 Athy – Maynooth
  • NUM14 Portlaoise – Maynooth
  • NUM12 Carlow – Maynooth
  • IW02 Newbridge – Carlow
  • CRLM – Carlow – Limerick – Carlow

Digital tickets purchased via the mobile app are accessible within the mobile app and must be presented to the driver upon boarding.

Digital tickets purchased on jjkavanagh.ie will be emailed to the passenger as a PDF document containing the ticket details and a QR code for each passenger. The PDF with the QR code can be presented to the driver on either a mobile device or as a print-out. It is the passenger’s responsibility to ensure they can present the digital ticket to the driver for validation.

Customers must travel on the date and time specified, and from point of origin selected when purchasing their online ticket.

Student Travel

JJ Kavanagh & Sons will be accepting the – Young Adult Card (YAC) – on all of our services. A range of Young Adult and Student Leap Card tickets will be available on our services including Single, Return and Weekly tickets . To avail of the 50% discount be sure to register for Young Adult Card (YAC) today here. On our Waterford City Services (607, 617 and 627) Young Adult or Student Leap Card Tickets can be purchased on the bus from the driver. Please present the Young Adult or Student Leap Card when boarding the bus to purchase a single ticket at a reduced fare of 50% compared to the adult fare.

Passenger Ticket Types

Our passenger ticket types are designed to help you choose the right ticket for yourself or your fellow travellers.

Children (0-4) – One child aged 0-4 travels free when accompanied by an adult with a valid ticket.

Children (5-12) – If travelling with a child, you may be required to show proof of age when buying tickets or at any point during your journey. Failure to do so may result in the child being required to pay the full fare for the journey on that day.

Family Tickets (2 Adults + 2 Children) – We have a new family ticket where you can ONLY purchase online. This ticket is valid for 2 adults and 2 children (0-12).

Weekly Ticket – A weekly ticket allows a passenger 5 outward and 5 return journeys between the specified destinations within a 7 day period.

Young Adult Card (YAC) – The Young Adult (19-23) Leap Card is available to all 19-23 year olds right up to their 24th Birthday.

How do I get to the coach park from terminals 1 and 2 in Dublin Airport?

Terminals 1 and 2 are very close to the main coach park (Zone 16) at the centre of the airport. Simply follow the signs to the coach park. Walking time is approximately five minutes from both terminals. View map here.

How long before departure should I arrive at the pick up point?

You must be at the departure point at least 10 minutes prior to the departure time.

Can I buy my ticket from your driver?

You can only purchase a SINGLE ticket directly from the driver with cash or with a debit card using our contactless payment tap and go facility on board. All other tickets must be purchased prior to travel via jjkavanagh.ie or our mobile app.

What ticket types do you offer?

We offer single, return, family (selected routes), weekly and yearly journey tickets. We also offer JJ Kavanagh & Sons TaxSaver Tickets. Single tickets are the only tickets available to purchase directly from the driver, all other can be pre-booked via jjkavanagh.ie or our mobile app.

Family tickets

A family ticket is a return journey, allowing for two adults and two children under the age of 12. Discounts from 10-60% are possible with family tickets depending on routes and guaranteed seats for all passengers. Family tickets cannot be purchased directly from the driver.

Family tickets must be purchased as a digital ticket from jjkavanagh.ie or via our mobile app up to 15 minutes before departure time. Family ticket dates and times can be changed up to 2 hours before the scheduled route departure time.

How much will it cost to buy a ticket?

Ticket prices vary on route and ticket type. To view a price of a ticket, you use our ticket booking page to choose route and ticket type.

Are free travel passes accepted on JJ Kavanagh & Sons?

Free Travel Pass holders can travel for free on any of our scheduled coach services except Daily College Routes, providing seats are available. Depending on the type of Free Travel Pass a companion may also travel free of charge, if there are available seats.

After priority boarding of pre-booked passengers, and if there are remaining seats, any other passengers including those with the Free Travel Pass can board the bus on a first-come, first-served basis.

Free Travel Pass holders may avail of priority boarding and a guaranteed seat by reserving their seats for a fee of €3 per seat each way. To pre-book your seat reservation use ticket booking page or our mobile app.

Do your coaches make toilet stops?

We do not make toilet stops, however 90% of our service coaches have toilets on board.

Do your coaches have plug sockets by the seats?

We have plug sockets, usb charging points on wifi on all our coach services.

Do you have coaches available for private hire?

JJ Kavanagh & Sons provides a full coach hire service for every occasion including event hire, corporate business travel, weddings, school trips and multi-day travel itineraries. Please see: https://coachhire.jjkavanagh.ie/

Can animals be carried on our coaches?

We do not allow animals on the bus, with the exception of service dogs. Please see our customer charter on Animals on Board for more information.

What is your policy on the use of e-cigarettes?

We do not permit the use of vaping or e-cigarette on any buses or coaches or premises.

What are the age restrictions on your child fares?

We offer child fares to anyone under the age of twelve and children under the age of four travel for free on JJ Kavanagh & Sons.
