At JJ Kavanagh, we’re always looking for ways to make journeys safer, faster, and easier for everyone. That’s why we’ve decided to introduce a cashless system, launching on 14th October across all services.
From this date, our drivers will no longer accept cash on board. Instead, you’ll have a choice of simple, modern payment options, making every journey smoother for both passengers and drivers.
By removing cash payments, we can reduce boarding times and help our drivers focus on getting you to your destination safely.
Why we’re making the change
Going cashless is all about enhancing your experience and ensuring our drivers are safe while they work:
Faster boarding: No more waiting for change. Just tap and go.
Safer travel: Ensures our drivers remain safe while they work.
Modern convenience: Choose from a range of simple payment options that suit your needs.
Your payment options
Don’t worry, you’ll have plenty of easy ways to pay on board:
- Online/App Booking: Book in advance to receive an e-ticket and guarantee your seat upon boarding.
- Contactless Card: Simply tap your debit, credit, or Revolut card on the reader.
- Leap Card: For Waterford City services (607, 617, 627), you can tap your Leap Card and pay. You can top up your Leap Card at many retail locations, or online.
And yes, you can still buy a ticket on the bus; just remember it’s card-only.
When does this start?
Mark your calendar: 14th October. From this date, all JJ Kavanagh routes will be cashless.
Tap. Travel. Done.
This move is about giving you a simpler, safer, and more modern way to travel, whether you’re commuting, heading to school, or planning a trip, while ensuring our drivers remain safe.
Thank you for choosing JJ Kavanagh – we can’t wait to welcome you on board for faster, cash-free journeys.
